There are occasionally times in our lives when uncertainty is king, and we need to step out of our comfort zone. This is often because we have no choice in the matter.
The rug has been pulled out from under us and we must choose a new path. A path that feels risky and without hope. Our steadfast, predictable life can no longer shelter us.
There may be an initial period of great fear, and even turmoil. Eventually this passes, and a determination to grow, and to change for the better: one’s life, relationships, and situation take root in one’s core, in one’s heart.
The Answer Is Hope
This may be scary, but hope and faith, and determination will get you to the Shangri-la at the end of the sometimes long and winding road.
We have to keep in mind that the journey is the thing. The road itself, and all that we will experience on it is what is most important. The ultimate goal at the end of your journey is a greater version of you.
In truth, though, does the journey actually end? I don’t think it does. It may stall for a bit, or for a long while, but in the end life itself will kick us in the ass to get us moving.
Unforeseen circumstances that are out of our control may seem like a disaster while we are in the midst of it. However, once we have passed through the time of perceived hardship, uncertainty, and disaster, we find that we have grown into a better version of ourselves. Our life has improved in some fundamental ways because of the experience.
Of course, some situations have very little, if anything, positive in them. Nonetheless, we have to find that glimmer of hope, that weak beam of sunlight in the darkness and follow it to the glory of a new day. We must do this with all of our strength, all of our tenacity, all of our stubborn “do or die” attitude.
In these uncertain times of the Covid-19 pandemic, I can only offer you these clichés. Strangely, though, these pearls of wisdom are clichés because of the universally recognized truth of their message.
