One of the most important practices for well-being is meditation. Now there are hundreds of different meditation programs and methods out there, but ultimately they all consist of focusing on one thing at a time. This could be focusing on a mantra, an image, a detailed visualization, one’s breath, one’s inner sensations, etc.
The benefits of a meditation practice are numerous. This includes its calming effect or promoting of equanimity; also the positive feelings this inner peace entails; the endorphin release; the greater insight into one’s own character; the reduction of stress, etc. I’ll give a more detailed list another time after some research. This post is simply an introduction to the topic.
